    GMaps Pedometer

    Lumens -

Our innovative friends at Google have done it again! They have a tool - GMaps Pedometer - that let's you map out walking/running routes whever you are. So now there is never an excuse to not walk at least 30 minutes a day.

It isn't the most intuitive to use, but once you master it, it comes in really handy.

    Check it out - http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

The satellite view even works for off-road trails.  Different parts of the country will be able to zoom in better than others.  I was in D.C. the other day and was able to map out (perfectly) a paved walking trail around an industrial park across from the hotel where I was staying.

I've used this for running, biking, and swimming.  It's great!

Do you guys know of any other online walking tools - something that rates trails for beginners vs. experts.

Another good one is MapMyRun.com. You can not only map your routes, but it also has an option that shows the elevation changes of your route. You may save your routes privately, or you may make them public for other users to enjoy. You may also look up pre-mapped routes in other areas where you may be traveling....

This informations is great.  I have been walking on my treadmill since the weather is colder.  I usually walk with my daughter in her stroller and she loves it. I can't wait to start doing that again so I can map my walk with her.
